Tom, In addition to what Mary Ann has suggested, When trouble shooting this issue, I will do a gradebook download, then try an immediate upload. If I get the error, then I know it is something else besides my data per se. That at least tells you system, vs. data. If you try uploading the exact same data. Then I will often try on a dummy course to upload

Hi Franz, There are several ways to approach this, let me throw out an idea. Background first. Dont get too hung up on the grades for each discussion topic. We can hide grade columns from students and not include them in any sort of grade tally/total. So one way to approach this is to bag the grading column for each topic and by viewing the reports

Your logic sounds good to me. As to Blackboard including the points in a total. It will only include points from columns for which you tell it to when you create a formula and tell it what columns to add up. So for it to include those, you have to tell it to do so. You should be good to go on this. Kevin

Hi Bill, I do not know the answer however, just for comparison, I am using a Mac running OS 10.5.8 and using Safari version 4 and I just graded discussions and it is working for me. I have been grading discussion 3 out of the last 7 days and so far no problem. All had boxes, or scores. My server is Vista 8 instead of CE8 but they are the same code base

Hi Joanna, You should contact your schools Help Desk and visit with them about what you are seeing. There could indeed be a virus in a file your teacher has uploaded. It is most likely not a virus with the system itself but attached to an individual file. It might be something on your computer as well. You should let your antivirus software run on your
