Vista 8.0.2 - Mac - Safari - Chat Inop

I have a Macbook Pro. Browser check says everything is good. Chat doesn't work for some reason. Yes, pop-up blocker is off. Someone told me by phone that they invited me but I never received it and they never received my invites either.

Media Library File Types

An instructor is attempting to add .pdf's to his Media Library (rather that image files) but we are receving an error when the link is opened. Are there certain files types that are allowed in the Media Library? Thanks!
