Hello Everyone,

How can you change the Top Banner Image and Tabs for all users in the Blackboard 9 environment?

Thank You

Josh,

You control the banner image, colors, and other visual settings by editing the default brand (under System Admin > Brands and Themes > Customize Default Brand).  The top banner image is under Navigation Settings > Banner Image, or Customize Colors > Background Image, depending on whether you want to set a clickable image in the left corner, or a banner that takes up the whole top frame.

If you have a license for Community Engagement, you will be able to create new tabs under System Admin > Tabs and Modules.  If you don't have Community Engagement, you will not be able to create new tabs, though, just edit the existing ones.

Good morning Mike,

We do not have a license for Community Engagement.  When you say "edit the existing ones", how much editing can be accomplished?  I am wanting to set the default modules under our My Institution tab.

Thank you for your assistance.

Marian.

To edit the modules under the "My Institution" tab, go to Admin Panel > Tabs and Modules > Tabs and select "Edit Default Content" and "Edit Default Layout" from the pull-down menu for the "My Institution" tab.

Mike,

I only show two options.

1. Edit

2. Delete

Marian,

I'm afraid I don't have access to a system that doesn't have Community, so I can't be sure what you do or do not see.  Do you have both "Tabs" and "Tab Groups" sections under "Tabs and Modules"?

Marian,

Ok, it looks like you're on SP8, so the admin panel menus are a little different from what's on my SP7 production system.  Going over to my SP8 test system...

On the Tabs screen, do you see both a "Top Frame Tab: My Institution" and a "Tabs included in this top frame tab: My Institution"?  If so, the one you need to edit is the second one, not the top frame tab.

In 9.1 there's actually a multi-level tab structure, and "top frame tabs" are just holders that contain one or more actual tabs with modules or content.  In versions before SP8, the top frame tab was called a "tab group", and they had separate menu page, but in SP8 they got smart and consolidated them...

Does that help?

Mike

Glad to help, even if I was "flying blind" a little bit. Smile
