I am adding new questions to an existing quiz; successfully cutting and pasting from Word 2010. The first 2 questions were fine, however, now the words, "Normal O..." is appearing as the quiz question title.

When I test the quiz, the title does not show, and the question seems to be displaying fine, however:

What does "Normal O..." mean?

Debra,

If you are cutting and pasting directly from Word into the Blackboard text editor when creating test questions, you are almost certainly including hidden formatting codes that will cause problems when students try to take the test, especially if they are using Internet Explorer.  The "Normal O..." that you're seeing is one bit of the problem formatting codes, but there are almost certainly lots more.

Rather than pasting directly from Word, I strongly urge you to paste into something like Notepad to get rid of the hidden formatting, then paste from there into your questions.  Alternatively, look in the "mashup" pull-down icon on the right side of the bottom toolbar in the text editor and see if your school has installed the "Paste from Word" mashup tool, which will filter the problematic Word formatting codes before it pastes into the text editor.

Thank you Mike!

I tried your suggestion in textpad & it totally worked.
