An Instructor at our Institution used DirectSubmit to verify the validity of his students' submissions, one student's paper generated a 100% match. Within the SafeAssign report, under the "Suspected Sources" section, it refers to the match being "Another student's paper". There does not appear to be a way to click on a link to the other student's source paper to see details (e.g.: whose paper it matched from the Global Reference Database). I have previously seen reports in which certain blocks of text matched other resources (e.g.: a page on Wikipedia) in which case DirectSubmit provided a link to the matching resource. Can anyone advise as to how to view the referenced source matching paper?
We're running: Blackboard Learning System - Vista Enterprise License (Release Vista 8.0.2) [18.0.2.42].
Thank you.

Hi Rich,
Take a look at this thread that Dr. C Mike Zimmerman posted on this.http://discussions.blackboard.com/forums/p/48193/147179.aspx#147179

Richard,
You can't necessarily get access to papers from other students. I'm on BB Learning System, but I suspect it works the same way in Vista, and did some checking on this a while back (http://discussions.blackboard.com/forums/p/48193/147179.aspx#147179) Here's what I found about papers in the institutional database/global reference database:
1) If the matching paper was originally uploaded using Direct Submit into the "Shared" area rather than the "Private" area, or was uploaded by the same instructor into another class using Direct Submit, then the details about who uploaded the paper and when it was uploaded are included alongside "Another user's paper" and the entire paper can be seen by following the link.
2) If the matching paper was uploaded by another instructor using Direct Submit into their own "Private" area, the suspected sources says "Another user's paper", but the whole paper is not available and no information about who uploaded the paper is given, only the matches are highlighted. From what I see, things like the author are not highlighted even if they match.
3) If the matching paper was submitted by a student as a SafeAssign assignment in another class, the suspected source says "Another student's paper", and again, only the matches (not including the author) are highlighted but the complete copy of the paper or information about who uploaded it is not available.
