When I create a new question, I find difficulty assigning it to an existing category. I've tried manually typing the name in, and I've tried using the "choose from existing" button.

Attempting to assign the highlighted topic in image 2 to the question in image 1, the topic name either becomes truncated as seen in image 1, or portions of the topic name are switched around. In either case, BB treats it as a new topic.

I found this result using Google Chrome. Trying to assign categories/topics etc. using IE8 doesn't work at all.

Has anyone seen this and/or know of a workaround?

TIA

Shaun

Shaun,

I apologize for not responding sooner, but I really haven't worked with question metadata very much.  I notice that the topics names you have are all very long--do you see the same problem with shorter topic/category names?

Mike,

Actually, I've since discovered that BB doesn't like commas in criteria names, probably because it uses commas to separate criteria names in question listings. This is further confused by the fact that imported topic names have commas in them with no apparent ill effects but if I choose one to add to a new question, it goes wonky and the truncated version of the name is treated as a new topic name. Same result if I type in the name manually.

I experimented with using codes (%32, &H#32;, etc.), but to no avail. If I find an answer, I'll post it here.

The workaround for the moment is to change the topic name of any topic to which I need to add questions - a fairly arduous task.

Thanks for the reply,

Shaun
