Hi,

We have Blackboard Learn 9.1 SP8 installed on our test server and are currently looking into the Merge enrollment Tool within System Admin>Courses

Whilst I can create a "master" course and select a child/ren course/s and that works well, what we really want to do is merge from a "master" course which has already been created  from our student records management system (SITS). Our courses are created automatically with the correct naming convention and student enrollment so we want to minimise any manual processes.

Question

Is there anyway of using the Merge enrollment Tool on an existing "master" course?

Perhaps this is the limitation of this tool in comparison to the merge course building block.

Ali,

I couldn't see a way to merge into an existing course from the GUI and the new merge enrollment tool.  I suspect the reason is to avoid possible conflicts with pre-existing enrollments in the "master" course, but that's just a guess.

Are you using either snapshots or the new data integration framework to create your courses from your SITS?  If so, I believe there is a way to do the merge as part of the integration process with the new framework--you might investigate that.  (I'm trying to figure it out, as well, but haven't gotten far enough yet to say how to do it...)
