I submitted an essay in the "Assignments" tab, just about at the deadline. I uploaded the file, and even opened it to check that it was there. Great. But after a couple of weeks, I noticed Assignments said "Missed," and my file was not there. What happened? Can I still retrieve my document?

You may have uploaded the file but not actually submitted it. You'll need to contact your instructor to find out whether or not they received it.

She checked her ELC page, and the document was not there. Is there a way to retrieve a document that was uploaded but not submitted? I think I know the answer to this one, but I thought I would ask . . .
I'm afraid I don't know what "ELC" is, but we at Dr. Cs don't have any connection with your school, so we don't know what school-specific things may be set up.
It sounds like you're from UGA, though, which is actually using the Balckboard CE/Vista system rather than then Blackboard Learning System.
