I am interested to know how other institutions manage access to courses for Respondus.
In my case, all faculty access to the LMS is managed through our SIS. This means that faculty do not know what their passwords are, nor do they access the LMS directly, but pass through a link in the SIS directly into the LMS.
This means that we have to manually reset each faculty's PW , provide them with the PW for safe-keeping and also provide them with the direct url to the LMS. They then, place this data into Respondus and then choose the course to publish to.
Is this best practice?
I know of at least one institution that uses a portal to manage access to Vista 8. What they have done was to set up third party authentication to grant access to both applications.
Perhaps you could try pointing your Vista install to use the same authentication source as your SIS so IDs and passwords would be the same.
Hope this helps
