Hi,

Is there any way we can do remediation on Blackboard CE 6 & 8 and Vista courses? I am looking for options similar like 'Adaptive Release' feature in Blackboard Learn.

Regards,

Ranjith.

Ce/Vista has "Selective Release" which is similar to Adaptive Release.

Hope this helps

Thanks Harold!

Could you please help me with more details of this "Selective Release"? For example, where I can find the feature on CE/Vista etc...

From your Build tab, look in the left hand side navigation menu under Designer Tools.  You should see the Selective Release link there.

When you click on this, it will give you a map of your course.  Note that you can click on the + sign next to each item and it will open up to show lower levels of content.  On the far right of each content item, click the "set Release Criteria" button. You have the option to release by date, membership, groups or by a grade in the gradebook.  If I understand your remediation question, you might use either member to release additional materials to a student or group of students or you might do it automatically using the grade criteria.  For example a student did not pass a quiz, you would use the "less than or equal to" the passing grade option to release additional materials to the students.

You can also use multiple criteria’s in combination using Boolean operators AND /OR.  If you do that be careful not to create an impossible release criterion.  I have seen instructors try to release between July 1- July 2 AND August 1 - august 2.  In this case it can't be both dates at the same time so the instructor should have used the OR operator.

Hope this helps

Hi Harold,

Yes, your detailed information will really helps us. Many thanks for providing this.

What I meant by 'remediation' is something like giving access to student for the study materials depending on the performance of the assessment, for example diagnostic test. The student will be able to see the study materials only if she/he will get a certain percentage on the diagnostic test.

It seems like your solution will helps us to meet the requirement.

Thanks again,

Regards,

Ranjith.
