I had placed a file in a course from my 2010-2011 school year into BlackBoard's digital dropbox. I also copied this file to my harddrive. Recently my harddrive was erased, and I require the file for the current school year. Seeing as the courses are erased each year, is there any way I can access a backup of my file, or does a backup even exist? I would be most appreciative of an answer. Thank you.

hi Christian,

Sorry to hear about the loss of your hard drive.

You should speak to your school about their retention policies.  This forum is answered by volunteers from many institutions, we are not familiar with the particulars of your school.

At my school, we make no warranty about the retention of files.  We make it clear that while we endeavor to keep the system running, Instructors should not place their only copy of a file in Blackboard.

Good luck

Glen

I have already contacted the school, but I believe that it is too late. As disappointing as this news is, I am glad that you answered my question as soon as you did. Thank you.
