Hi Dr. C

I'm in week 5 of my semester and all has been going great until Friday, July 22. Since then, clicking the Bb link on my university site, after logging in, results in an error message saying the server for Bb did not respond. Normally I use Firefox, but also tried on Safari. (I use a mac, running OS just before Snow Leopard). Safari gave same error and I then tried on the windows computer in the home, with same results. Monday morning I tried from the office and I could access Bb. This has left me to believe the problem is on the home network. We live in Switzerland and use Swisscom for phone, TV and Internet. I've asked the IT guys at the university, but they only sent me the link to supported browsers. I've also tried to make the changes in the Proxy settings by selecting "Automatically detect proxy for this....", but no change.

I would really appreciate some help and hints on getting the problem solved

Warmly

Hendrik

Hendrik,

I would try disabling your proxy detection and set Safari and Firefox up for "direct connection".   Normally after you login, Blackboard looks to be sure you have a login session cookie and then redirects you into the main page.  If you have proxy or security settings that are either blocking that session cookie from being sent back or preventing the browser fro redirecting you into the Blackboard server.

You also might contact tech support at Swisscom, to see if they've changed the network configuration since the 22nd, or if they have other people reporting similar problems.
