Hello,

I am new to Blackboard. We have a server setup (9.1) and I loaded on a test SCO file from the people who I think make the standards, ADL. The files I am using can be found at: http://www.adlnet.gov/Technologies/scorm/SCORMSDocuments/2004%204th%20Edition/Content%20Examples.aspx  When I load one of those onto the system and try to load it I get the message "Unable to find an API adapter" right away. I will then get many errors after that and nothing will work. What am I missing in getting this to work?

Hi there,

Unfortunately, the current Blackboard SCORM player does not support 2004 4th edition. If you can, stick to the 3rd addition or lower for now.

I have some good news as an addendum though -- Blackboard Learn, 9.1 SP6 will support the 4th edition! With that in mind, I recommend you look into upgrading to SP6 when the time comes. Info, eventually, will be hosted, here: http://www.blackboard.com/Sites/UpgradeCenter/index.aspx

If you like, you can email me at mike.lovell [at] blackboard [dot] com and I'll make sure you get more info closer to the SP6 release date. We are going to be publishing tons of resources around the release and I can point you in the right direction at that time.

Thanks!
Mike

Also, some additional context from our product team:

To load SCORM correctly, you will need to make sure the SCORM type is enabled in the course you are trying to load it in, then do the following:

Build Content -> Content Package (SCORM), and then fill in the form from there. If you try to load SCORM in some other way, it will fail with lots of error messages.

If the "Content Package (SCORM)" is missing, it can be turned on in the course, or the system level to make it available. Without it, you can't play SCORM!

Cheers,

Mike

Well then I guess this leads me into my next question. We have some content that we created (which is all 2004 3rd Ed.) and will load onto other LMSs such as Moodle and it will work. But when we load it onto Blackboard and try to access the activities we get the error : "The specified resource was not found, or you do not have permission to access it.".  I am not able to change permissions on any of the files after uploading the SCORM file.

Do you have a sample test SCORM file that we can use to make sure our content is being built the right way so that we are not missing something small as to why this is failing to work?

Here are some SCORM examples: http://scorm.com/scorm-explained/technical-scorm/golf-examples/

Also, I hate to encourage you to seek answers elsewhere, but if your test file does not work, I recommend opening a support ticket with Blackboard. Provide them with all the information you sent along to me and they should be able to help you pretty thoroughly.

Thank you for the help, is there a page where I would submit a ticket or is there an email address that I need to send it to? I was having difficulty locating this on the website.

You'll be able to submit a case from behind the Blackboard.

This URL will work once you log in:

https://behind.blackboard.com/s/sysadminas/support/addcase.aspx

Thanks!

Mike
