In previous versions I could create a voice announcement. Is there an easy  way to do that in 9.1.

Dale,

Can you explain a little more about what you mean by "voice announcements"?  Also, could you let us know what version of Blackboard you were using before?   That doesn't sound like a built-in feature on any of the Blackboard versions I've seen.  Perhaps it was a tool ore feature added by the folks at your school?

Thanks for responding, Mike. I am unsure of the version. It would have been the version we were using in 2008-2009. The university generally keeps up to date with versions. It was not something our school provided. It came with Blackboard. I understood it to be part of the Wimba tools. It was listed in the tools section as “Voice Announcement” just as “Voice Podcast” is listed in 9.1. I could click on it and record an announcement and also add the text for it. It would appear in the announcements with the text and a small voice player. It could also be emailed like other announcements. I used it extensively in some of my online courses. It was a good touch. If such a tool is no longer available, it should be. Is there some way to accomplish the same thing in 9.1?

Dale,

I'm afraid I haven't used Wimba Tools.  The Wimba building block (Blackboard add-on) comes pre-installed on recent Blackboard versions, but each school has to register for and configure the service if they want to use it.  I'd suggest contacting the IT Help Desk at your university, to see if they can configure Wimba with the same settings and options you used to have available.

Hi. The wimba voice announcement now uses the voice authoring tool instead of the voice announcement tool. Both tools pretty much work the same way. The voice authoring tool can be found in the VTBE (text editor) under the mash up tools.

Hope this helps.
