I would like my students and teaching assistants to receive email notification of announcements. What do I need to do to enable this? What will my students and teaching assistants need to do?
Jeannie
Nevermind, I figured it out.
would you mind sharing how you did it? I'm a student and I would like to receive an email every time my professors post an announcement. I have one professor who refuses to use email and that is the only way he communicates with us. We miss assignments all the time because I don't have the internet at my house and I check my email on my phone.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
Hello, Benjamin.
I override student settings by selecting the following when I create an announcement:
Duration Permanent
Override User Notification Settings Send Email to all users even those that choose not to receive Announcement notifications through email.
Benjamin,
If the system administrator has email notifications enabled, users can choose to get email notifications about all kinds of things happening in their Blackboard classes--new course materials, tests and grades available, assignments due, and new announcements (among other things). Instructors also have the option when creating an announcement to override their students' notification settings and send out an email, but only if email notifications have been enabled on the system.
Mike
As the admin I have notifications enabled in Blackboard 9.2 sp4 and have slected to have emails sent. However, the "Override User Notification Settings sends an email message to all users regardless of the notification settings they have selected." does not appear as an option in the create announcements.
What am I missing
Amy,
There are a couple of discussions about this over the in the System Admin areas. Have a look at this thread: http://discussions.blackboard.com/forums/p/50891/155923.aspx#155923
You need to have "Course Settings > Default Notification Settings > Announcement Available > Email" set to "Default On".
I fixed the problem
