Hello,

Is it possible for an instructor to view the identity/username of a student in an anonymous for Students discussion?

According to Blackboard help, it seems that this would be possible (hence the term 'for students'), however I was not able to make it work...

Here's the excerpt from Blackboard help, under Creating and Editing Topics:

"Under Author Identification, specify whether Students' names should display with their messages:

    * For user names to display, select Authors are identified by user names.
    * For postings to remain anonymous, select Authors are anonymous to Students.
Note:     Author names display to Section Instructors and Teaching Assistants."

Has anyone else encountered this?

Is Blackboard Help wrong?

Unfortunately the documentation is incorrect.  An anonymous discussion is exactly that.  Authors of an anonymous post cannot be determined.  I think there may be a VST at Behind the Blackboard but I am not sure.

Thanks for replying Harold. It helps to have this confirmed. I will look into a workaround through the Tracking tool...
