I took a BB training class to set up a course online.  Is there a way take the course I created in the class and make it my real course for students?

Depending on the version of Blackboard you are using and admin rights you have you should be able to copy the content of your course and make it a course for students. If you don't have the rights you can contact your system admin and they will be able to make a copy or export of your content (if they are willing).

There a several approaches to what you would like to do.  I your training took place in the Blackboard production system, you should be able to do a course copy.  If it was outside of the production, you would have to export the course and then import it into your Blackboard site.  When you import your course, make sure that you check all of the items you want to bring into the new location.

If you are using Blackboard 9.1 DO NOT USE COURSE COPY. It is not working properly and the files will not work for the students in the copied course. Instead use the export/import feature to get the content from one course to another. This seems to be working properly. Also if you copy an item from one Blackboard course to another that has an attachment, the attachment will not open for students. Blackboard is working on a fix, but it has yet to come out.

If course copy is really not working, this explains a lot. We have numerous instances where instructors can access items but students cannot. Some can be fixed by resetting permissions, others require relinking.

It's been a real blast on the first week of class when students can't access syllabi and other documents.

Thanks for posting this. All we were told was some "possibility" there has been a mapping issue.

Yes, we came across this over the summer and have disabled course copy until it is resolved. Unfortunately it was too late for many. Our best advice has been to do a bulk delete and the export/import instead. There don't seem to be any issues with this technique. One other word of warning, if you copy an item from one course to another the file does not go along. As with course copy, it appears correctly, but the students cannot view the attachment.

About the possibility - it took us forever to get Blackboard to believe the problem was with Blackboard and not with us. LOL
