Instructor Cannot See General Course Settings

Hello,

Any ideas as to why an instructor wouldn't be able to see the General Course Settings on the Manage tab? Her system role was Student, which I corrected to Faculty, but when I preview as her, I still cannot see the General Course Settings.

She is listed as instructor in the course, and her course permissions include General Course Settings. Removing the Course Settings component (nugget) and then reinstating it does nothing.

Am I missing something?

I had a similar issue just the other day where the faculty role was not given and thus the instructor could not access something (edit roster I think was the case with us).  Same result, after I added the Faculty role the account still couldn't do it when I logged in as that account.  The next time I logged in as that account though about 5 minutes later it did have access.

I suspect that there might be a little bit a latency in the role settings taking affect, or some of the rights are cached somehow.  Try it again as that instructor, perhaps even with a different browser or computer so you know it's generating the rights freshly on the log in and see if that helps.

Rick to the rescue again! (I had checked the Knowledge Wiki first this time, without finding anything.) Both the General Course Settings and the ability to edit the Roster are working for this instructor again, so it must be as you suggested, latency with the role settings taking effect.
