Does anyone know of an environment variable to increase the file size allowed for Discussion Forum attachments? We've found env vars for increasing the defaults on Course Mail and Drop Boxes, but not for Discussions.  Either course-specific or system-wide is fine.

Thanks,

Crystal

Yes, i think you are right about it being FORUM_MAX_MB for version 7.4.  I've put information below from the ANGEL help site.

Description: User wants to change the 2 MB attachment limit in Dropboxes, Discussion Forums and Course Mail.

Applicable Version(s): ANGEL 7.2, 7.3, 7.4

Date Created: 6/16/04

Last Modified: 7/11/07

Keywords: quota, dropbox, limit, attachment, dropbox quota, dropbox limit, discussion forum, environment variable, course mail quota, 364,596-364

Diagnosis: N/A

Resolution/Workaround:

Three environment variables are available that can restrict file upload size on discussion forums, dropboxes and course mail. If not specified, the default for all items is 2 MB. These variables can be set at the course level or at a global level.

Variable Names: BOARD_MAX_MB (7.3) or FORUM_MAX_MB (7.4) for discussion forums, DROPBOX_MAX_MB for dropboxes, and MAIL_MAX_MB for course mail attachments

Variable Value: Add the MB amount you wish to restrict for uploads

Example: 10 (for 10 MB)

Did you try "BOARD_MAX_MB"?

I just tried that, but perhaps I didn't do it correctly. In the Variable Value, I put "10" without quotes to signify 10 MB. Went into a discussion forum and received the same file size error message when trying to upload an attachment that was about 3.5 MB. I even logged out of ANGEL and came back in.

Any other ideas? Maybe it should be FORUM_MAX_MB?
