Hello all,

We are using the Fill in the Blanks question for use in our Accounting courses, and are building Ledger Tables for students to complete as part of their assessment.  All is good except for this very annoying characteristic:

Once a question has been created with the [ blank ] and the answers generated with the corresponding % value of each blank along with any alternate answers, it appears that you are stuck.  If there is any modification to any blank, or new % value, the entire table 'resets' back to all zeroes, all alternate answer disappear, and everything goes back to 'equals' for the grading scheme.

Our questions have 40 blanks in them so this is a major issue unless we can come up with a solution.  Any and all help will be appreciated

Thanks!

I just tried this out in Vista 8.03 SP3 and cannot replicate what you describe.  You may want to check with your local Admin and ask them to open a Blackboard Support ticket.

Hello Harold,

Thank you for the response. To ensure that we are both on the same page, I've created a quick 1 minute screencapture of the situation.  Can you please view this quickly?

Before I go to our admin folks, I just want to make sure that indeed you could not replicate the exact scenario.

thanks

Thanks for the screen capture.  Following your example I was able to replicate the issue.

I played around with various methods and I think if you simply make your edits to the HTML and then click the Save button at the bottom of the screen, without clicking the Update Answers button, the changes will take effect without wiping out your %.

Try that and let us know if that works.

Hope this helps

Hi Harold,

Agreed, your suggestion works for any text that is outside of the actual blank answers, unfortunately the majority of the edits are for the actual answers themselves.  Just to add salt to our wounds, we have also discovered that all alternate answers also get wiped out along with the % value whenever you select Update Answers...

Thanks again for your time
