The help file indicates instructors have the ability to email an announcement, but I can't find out where the option is to send the announcement to students via an email!!! Where is it?
Hi Melissa - when you create an announcement there is an override notifications option. By checking this option box, an email with the text of the announcement will be sent to all users in the course.

Hi Melissa - it is in the Create Announcement area, right under the "Select Date Restrictions". If you aren't seeing the option, is your email function turned on in your course and/or does your account have an email address associated with it?
I have the email functionality turned on and I have an email address associated with my account. We will be installing the SP1 at the end of the week. Maybe that will resolve the issue. Thanks for your assistance.
Melissa - it is in 9.0 also. Notifications will also need to be turned on by the System Administrator; that may be why you aren't seeing it.
I actually have system administration credentials and all of the notifications are turned on. We are running 9.1 and we will be installing the first service pack. I'm hoping this will resolve the issue.
