I want to place a PowerPoint slide show in my course that students can see - well - as a slide show. Can someone help me with the step-by-step instructions? Thanks.

As with most things there is actually more than one way to do this. If your PowerPoint slides are not narrated and you are familiar with Google Docs you can upload them there and share them as a presentation. This method does require a Google account but it really is a very smooth way to share a PowerPoint online. Google Docs actually allows you to embed a Powerpoint or share it as a web-link. If this interests you feel free to shoot me an email at dlloyd @ georgiasouthern . edu

Another option is to use a free piece of software called AuthorPoint Lite. I am including a walk-through for that below.

AuthorPoint Lite - Loading files into Blackboard Vista

This tutorial is designed to be a basic walkthrough of how to get AuthorPoint created files into GeorgiaVIEW. Basic knowledge of MS PowerPoint 2007 and Blackboard Vista is required. It assumes you have downloaded and properly installed the AuthorPoint Lite software. AuthorPoint Lite can be downloaded from http://www.authorgen.com/authorpoint-lite-free/powerpoint-to-flash-converter.aspx. Once it is installed be sure to close and reopen PowerPoint.

1. Create/open the PowerPoint file with narrations.

2. Access the authorPOINT Lite toolbar in PowerPoint.

3. Click on the Convert to Flash button. (If you have not saved the PPT, you will be prompted to do so now)

4. Title the Presentation and choose a "Save At Location". It will default to My Documents.

5. Click on "Send" to begin the conversion process.

6. Once finished, you can close PowerPoint, or repeat steps 1‐5 for additional PowerPoint files.

7. Using "My Computer" or some other explorer window, navigate to the folder you referenced in step 4. (Default is inside of My Documents is a folder entitled "authorGEN Projects" )

8. It is within this folder that your converted PowerPoints are stored according to the original file name on the PowerPoint. You will see an entire folder with the same name as the PowerPoint.

9. Right‐click on the folder that represents the PowerPoint you want to upload into GeorgiaVIEW and choose the Send To ‐> Compressed (zipped) Folder option. It will create a .zip file with the same name as the folder.

10. Login to the GeorgiaVIEW course and go to the File Manager.

11. Click on Get Files and upload the .zip file created in Step 6.

12. Once uploaded, click on the ActionLink button and choose Extract. GeorgiaVIEW will now create a folder with the same name. (You can use the ActionLink next to the .zip file and delete it)

13. Navigate to the homepage or other Folder and use the Add File button to create a link to the .html file located in the folder in Step 9.

14. Your presentation will automatically play whenever the document is accessed.
