--- Server: Bb Learning System Release 6.0-6.2(WIN) | Client: IE_NS(WIN) ---

I have an instructor having trouble getting her titles to indent in the learning module. She uses a Mac. We tried to indent the same table and saw the same reoccurring problem. It will sometime indent and sometimes it won't. We are in the learning module - click the box beside the title we wish to indent - click on the Indent button - nothing happens - no error message - nothing. We are using a PC.
We are running CE6 application 1.

Hi Paula,

This issue has been reported various times here, and it seems to be a bug. My experience is that the indent or outdent does work eventually, but I have to select that action several times in a row until it finally happens.

Please talk with your local WebCT/BB Administrator so he or she can report it to Support -- the more who do that, the better.

In the meantime, here's one thread about the issue, in which Matthew Kay has posted a workaround. I've been using his method and it helps a little.

Oops, I forgot to include the URL to the other thread. Here it is:

In the course where we discovered the problem, the work around worked when viewing under build, but when I switch to Student View every thing is listed under 1. For example 1.1.1 etc. - even when it gets to the 2nd heading, under the student view it doesn't switch the numbering to 2, 2.1,... it just keeps on with 1 point whatever. When I am in the build view it shows it all listed correctly.

I see this happening with every course I have in CE6. Haven't done had the application or service packs yet. Hope that will address it. None of the trouble-shooting or tricks are working for me this time but have in the past. I have a very simple layout in the module:
heading
file
file
(total of 4 headings with two files each)

As I add a new heading, it is automatically indented and can't be undone. Outdent All to start over doesn't work. Also, when we create a heading, it is duplicated. (end up with two of the same headings) This is in every course.

Annette, it's extremely annoying, isn't it. One thing I've done is (in a fit of frustration once) I kept doing the select-outdent, select-outdent, until after about 5 or 6 times it actually worked. When I saw Matthew Kay's workaround, I added the heading at the end and it arrived indented. But I clicked and clicked until it finally outdented, and now his workaround is working for me. Hope that works for you too, while we await a fix.

I find Blackboard is extremely responsive to suggestions. Now in September of 2008, I still have the same problem.

Hello Haigang,

I'm sorry to hear you're still having that same issue. We had it where I work (as noted above in this thread), but after updates the issue went away. I'm wondering if your administrator has installed updates. If so, then perhaps there's a new or resurfaced version of this issue that Bb Support needs to look at. Talk to your local system administrator and ask them to either update or, if that's done, report this to Support on Behind the Blackboard.

Thanks
Kate

A similar issue has been reported here at my school as well. We're using Blackboard Vista 8.

When inside a learning module, click on the "Bookmarks" action link. If there is a bookmark already created you should be able to delete it. This can be done by clicking on the bookmark's actionLink and selecting "Delete". This works. However, you should also be able to delete the bookmark by clicking on its checkbox and then clicking on the "Delete" button at the bottom of the list. This does not work. The button doesn't do anything.

I tried clicking the button several times (thinking it might be a similar problem to the one above) but that didn't seem to do anything.

I am very frustrated.  I am having the same issue with indenting.  I am trying to indent; however, nothing is working.

A few have mentioned a work around - can some explain this?

Thanks

You are posting this to a discussion that dates back to 2006.  Can you confirm what version of Blackboard you are currently using?

thanks

I am using the latest version of Vista and I am having the same problem.  Is there some way to work around the problem?  Is there some kind of power editing tool I can use?

Or do I need to put a magnet on my university's file servers?

Jeff
